We rescue surplus food & redistribute it to charities

Kaivolution is the Waikato’s first dedicated food rescue organisation.

Our kaupapa is simple. Everyday significant amounts of food that is good enough to eat but not good enough to sell is needlessly disposed of. We rescue this food from suppliers and redistribute it to community organisations working with people in need. Protecting the planet and feeding the people is good for our community, good for the environment and good for businesses who work with sustainability and social justice values in mind.

Posh Nosh: Kaivolution Fundraiser Dinner

Posh Nosh: Kaivolution Food Solution
Friday 11 November 2016; 7-10pm
The Inaugural Posh Nosh Gala Dinner is taking place on the 11th of November at the Wintec Atrium. This event offers a delicious, three course meal and excellent entertainment. All money raised will fund Kaivolution's operations and build its capacity, including enabling the employment of more van drivers and allowing us to operate from larger food sorting facilities.

How much food have we rescued?

Since Kaivolution launched in October 2014, more than 100 tonnes of food have been rescued from reaching landfill and redistributed to where it's needed most in the Waikato community. Our latest figures show that we have rescued 152,000 kgs of food: that's about the equivalent of a blue whale or 13 elephants!

Our Vision

Protecting the planet, feeding the people. We want to see a Waikato where quality, usable food is not needlessly thrown away and where nobody goes without good food. To achieve this goal, we need your help.
