Rescuing surplus food, redistributing to the community
Kaivolution is the Waikato’s first dedicated food rescue organisation.
Our kaupapa is simple. Every day significant amounts of food that is good enough to eat but considered not good enough to sell is needlessly disposed of. We collect this food from producers and redistribute it to community organisations who can use this food in their community. Protecting the planet and feeding the people is good for our community, good for the environment, and good for businesses who work with sustainability and social justice values in mind.
How much food have we rescued?
Since Kaivolution launched in October 2014, more than 350,000kg of food has been rescued and redistributed to the Waikato community.
